DAISY by Marc Jacobs

I am soo excited, I finally got the perfume that Ive been waiting for all my life! (okay, actually since middle school)
Im looking at it on my vanity right now, and it looks so cute with its red bottle and black flowers at the top.
The smell of the perfume is to die for. Im no good at describing scents, so on the website they describe it as "fresh and feminine, with a playful innocence. At its heart is a floral scent with the vintage edge of violet. Sophisticated, with a touch of whimsy, this fragrance captures the eclectic, vintage flavor of Marc Jacobs' feminine, edgy designs. Always elegant, always enchanting—but not too serious—Daisy is a sparkling floral bouquet, spirited and fresh, wrapped in comfort and warmth."
Mine is the pop art edition, if you were wondering.. this is how the normal one looks like..
IN A NUTSHELL:

pros:
- smells AMAZUH-ING
- cute packaging

cons:
- scent doesnt last very long
- expensive (the pop art version is $88 for 3.4 oz, the normal is $75 for 3.4 oz)

nevertheless, I am in LOVE with this perfume. Its a lovely floral scent, clean and fresh. You should definetly just try it out and see if you like it as well! :)

Review and comparison: Benefits Hoola Bronzer vs. NYC sunny bronzer

Summer is here, and everyone is pulling out their favorite bronzers to get than bronzey tan look. Two of the most popular bronzers out there are the Hoola bronzer and the NYC bronzer in sunny.
The most obvious difference between them is the price, as Hoola bronzer runs for about $30 while NYC sunny is about $4 in the drugstore.
NYC bronzer (left) , Hoola (right)
Hoola (left), NYC sunny (right)
The colors are different as well. As you can see in the pan, NYC sunny is a tad bit more orange than Benefits hoola bronzer, which is a little bit more olive toned. I find that Hoola suits my skin tone better, as I have yellow undertones, and yellow and olive go hand in hand together.
NYC sunny is also a really sheer bronzer, while Hoola is a bit more pigmented. You can also see the quality of the Hoola bronzer as the powder is very fine and creamy in a way. The Sunny bronzer is a bit harder to pick up in the pan, and it took me about 3 swatches to get a good color payoff in my swatch above.
They are both great bronzers if you like the natural look.

However, If I had to choose one bronzer to buy, I think it would be NYC Sunny. I personally think that Hoola bronzer was a waste of money, and it barely even shows up on my skin (since I have pretty tan skin already). And if I wanted a matte bronzer, why should I pay $30 when I can buy a darker powder from the drugstore for cheap? NYC bronzer is a great bronzer for beginners. Its inexpensive, it looks natural, and the packaging is much more compact than Hoola Bronzer.
However, if you have fair skin, are a fan of high end products and you want a bronzer that is smooth to apply and not an orangey tone, Hoola bronzer would be the a great choice for you.

Drugstore mascaras: Hits and misses

Drugstore mascaras are great. Theyre cheaper than most highend mascaras, and work about the same, if not even better. I have bought several different drugstore mascaras, and I'm here to give you a little review of each one that Ive tried. :)

1. Great lash mascara by Maybelline
This was the first mascara that I ever bought when I first started wearing makeup. It was cheap, and there were so many raves about it in magazines, that I thought I ought to give it a try. From what I can remember, I absolutley hated it. It was clumpy and disgusting, and totally turned me off from buying more mascaras. I would rate this product 3/10. ):

2. But of course, I was sucked into buying more mascara after seeing many great review on the maybelline colossal mascara. This one was okay in my opinion. I didnt like the smell very much, and I thought that it made my lashes look a little spidery. It was good at volummizing, but I didnt see much length out of this mascara. I also thought it made my lashes look very unnatural, it was very obvious that I was wearing mascara. I would rate this product 4.5/10

3. I bought this mascara on a whim when I saw in on sale at Target. At first I hated it becasue it super clumpy when I first applied it, but after a few weeks the formula improved greatly and I fell in love with it. I did see a bit smudging on my lower lashline at the end of the day, but it wasnt as bad as other mascaras that I have tried. I would rate this mascara 8.5/10
4. The maybelline falsies mascara was raved about so much, that I decided to get one for myself to try out. I actually really liked it. It was super lengthening, great at volumizing, seperating and clump free. It didnt make my lashes look like false lashes, but it did a really good job at making them stand out a lot more. I also loved this mascara on my lower lashes, because it made them more defined and volumized. I did have a bit of a smudging issue with this mascara, where I would have a bit of black on my outer lower lash line by the end of the day. But all in all, I think this mascara is pretty good. I would rate it a 8/10
5. As you may know, mascara isnt that great for you lashes. I found that wearing mascara everyday made my lashes actually more brittle and smaller. So I decided tp try this mascara. However, this mascara didnt help grow my lashes at all. But the formula was pretty good. It was great at lengthening, and it gave the same effect as the maybelline falsies mascara. However this mascara smudged a bit on me as well. I'd rate it a 8/10

6. I bought this mascara becasue it claimed to grow eyelashes as well. It didnt grow my eyelashes, instead it made them smaller and more brittle. However, it had a great formula as it was very clump free and seperated nicely. I really liked this brush on this mascara, it is similar to the lash blast by covergirl, but alot smaller. Great for getting into the hard to reach places. THis mascara wasnt great at lengthening, but it gave nice volume. Id rate it 7.5/10.
7. I really liked this mascara the first day I got it. It looks natural, and makes your lashes look "full and soft". However, it smudged like crazy on me, even though I bought the waterproof version. It literally gave me raccoon eyes by the end of the day. It looked terrible.. I'd rate this mascara a 6/10.
8.The covergirl lashblast waterproof was super waterproof to the exent that it was hard to remove. It was clump free, seperated well, lengthened decently, and volumized decently as well. However I threw this one away becasue it was killing my lashes. It made them extremly small and brittle and I swear the size of my lashes were half the size they were before after putting on this mascara. This mascara is great for wearing in the pool, or to the beach, but I wouldnt wear it on a daily basis. I'd rate it a 7/10

9. Like I said in my last post, this is my favorite mascara. I LOVE IT.
clumpfree, decent lengthening and volumizing, and best of all, smudgeproof!

This mascara gets a 9/10 just becasue I wish it was more lengthening.

So, the search for the perfect mascara goes on. I think I might try the covergirl lashblast length, even though it gets bad reviews. We'll see how it goes.

Travel Makeup :)

So, lately ive been sleeping over at my cousins house, and I needed to pack a few essential products for my everyday makeup.
These are the products that I brought with me:
1. Clinique pressed powder in translucent
I loove this powder. Not only does it get rid of shine, it also minimizes pores, making your skin look naturally flawless. I use this mostly on my nose, where I tend to get shiny in the summer.

2. Concealor
Concealor is a must have for me... I have terrible dark circles in the morning and the best way to perk up my face is by covering them with concealor. If I could only pick one makeup product to wear, it would be concealor. Yes, I know this concealor looks pretty nasty... I had it for such a long time, and I wont talk too much about it becasue I believe Maybelline discontinued it?
However, I reccomend their mineral power concealors... I do own one, and its works great for covering my dreaded dark circles and even blemishes.

3. eyelash curler
My second most important essential is my eyelash curler. I have stubborn eyelashes that point straight downwards, and an eyelash curler works amazingly to keep my lashes pointed straight up and out of my eyes. This one is from revlon, but I really want to get the shisedo eyelash curler that everyone raves about :)

4. The covergirl lashblast volume has got to be my favorite mascara of all time. Its the only mascara that does not smudge on me at all. Its A-M-A-Z-I-N-GG :)
It also seperates my lashes nicely and doesnt clump. In the lengthening and volumizing department, its decent.
Also, this mascara is one of those mascaras that takes a few weeks for the formula to get better. When I first bought it, I thought it was the worst mascara in the world. It was clumpy and icky, and made my eyelashes look like crap. :P But after about 2 weeks, the formula dried out a bit and it applied amazingly on my lashes.

I think the packaging is pretty cute, however in my opinion the brush is a little too large. Yesterday I literally  poked my eyeball with it by accident becasue I guess I wasnt careful enough. That was a lovely experience. :)

5. MY FAVORITE lipgloss of all time!
This is the maybelline shinesensational lipgloss in sparkling grape. I loove grape candy, and this smells exaclty like it. Its a sheer gorgeous purpley pink with tiny shimmers in it. Its super non sticky and glides on my lips so smoothly. I'm really picky about my lipglosses. The perfect lipgloss cannot be sticky, it must make my lips look juicy but not overly shiny, the smell must be good, but not overly perfumed that its unbearable, and of course the color has to be pretty. This lipgloss meets all the standards in my criteria for the perfect lipgloss. LOVE love LOVE this lipgloss!

6. Lipbalms are a must for me. I typically like ones with no scent, and neutrogena makes great moisturizing lipbalms with no scent. This one is the neutrogena lip moisturizer with spf 15

So that about wraps up my travel makeup items ; my staples for everyday makeup.
Hope this was helpful!

More Essie Nailpolishes!!

Yes, i did go out and buy more nailpolishes. i think im obsessed ):
the colors I got were; pretty edgy (the bright green), demure vixen (the lavender with purple duo chrome), vermillionaire (the bright orange), and damsel in a dress (wine purple color with silver duo chrome)

Pretty edgey is a GORGEOUS bright green. for some reason, everytime I look at it it reminds me of the new movie, green lantern.. i think the colors are quite similar :)
two coats of this nailpolish creates a really ncie, opaque look. Its quite glossy and does not chip easily. Its such a refreshing, summer color. LOve it ! :)

Although you cant see it well, Demure Vixen has a slight purplish duochrome in the bottle. However on the nails its quite unnoticable. Its a light lavender, a very pretty color, however I feel the formula of this polish is really sheer and needs many coats to get an opaque look.
I have Damsel in Distress on my toes, and its the perfect vampy nail polish. Its a gorgeous purple wine color with a slight duochorome effect to it. The formula is very opaque and has a shiny finish.

Vermillionare is a very "in your face" sort of color. The color reminds me of those traffic cones that they use on the streets. Its a very fun, bold color, and its perfect for summer :) This polish also needs about two coats for a nice opaque look.

Ah~ summer is finally here! I  finally have an excuse to slip on my favorite pair of flipflops and show off the new colors I bought for this season .. I especially cant wait to see that gorgeous green on my toesies :)

My first Essie Nailpolish!

Today, i am so siked because I bought my first essie nail polish!! :)
Lately, ive been really into shimmery nudes. It looks natural, yet has a touch of sparkle to it  when it hits the sunlight. Ah, so pretty!
I have never been much of a nail polish collector, and especially since Essie is such an expensive brand of nailpolish, im actually quite surprised I bought it.  But today i ventured out into the drugstore and bought myself  my first essie nailpolish! Im quite delighted with the smooth texture, the small brush, and of course the beautiful color!
the shade is called A lot of Shekels, and this one is quite sheer. I think it will be really great for french manicures. For a nice opaque look, I needed about 3 coats of polish, and it turned out to be a quite pretty light pink color. Much prettier in person.
please excuse my gross looking nails, lol :)

im quite impressed with the quality of this nailpolish, and it will be the first of many polishes im planning to buy :)

A REVIEW: Maybelline Fit me foundation

Last Saturday, I was forced to run to the store and buy a foundation.
Now, normally I am not a foundation wearer. Still being fairly young, I dont find a need to wear much foundation except for formal events such as parties and weddings.
Last saturday I was "forced" to buy foundation because of my performance the next day, where we were required to wear a base on our face (haha.. it rhymes :P). Being tired, I basically ran into my nearest CVS and just grabbed a foundation that I thought matched my skintone the best. Maybelline Fit me foundation in the shade 210 seemed to be a most promising color for me. Now, store lighting is very deceiving. What I thought was a very yellow based foundation turned out to be quite pinkish when I got home. Quite a disappointment on my part.
However, I found the foundation to be quite moisturizing, and it looked quite smooth on my face. The formulation is very sheer and light on the face so it feels like your wearing nothing. It doesnt look cakey with the first coat of foundation, but obviously if you were to add more layers it would begin to look cakey.
I think this foundation is not for people with oily skin, and for people who want a heavy coverage foundation. For those people, I would recommend Revlon colorstay, which I have owned, and loved.

IN A NUTSHELL:

PROS:
- Decent pricing: i got mine for about $8
- lightweight, sheer coverage
- looks natural
- color range is good
- Moisturizing, dewy finish
- smell is decent
- packaging is nice and sleek

CONS:
- no oil control
- not a heavy coverage foundation

would I buy this foundation again? Maybe, but in a different shade. Hopefully next time I can find a fit me foundation that actually fits me. haha
